John Parkinson
Chief Technologist, Capgemini North America
John Parkinson is a member of the Group’s Office of the CTO, developing strategy and setting direction for Capgemini’s portfolio of Technology Consulting offers, promoting technology Innovation, working with early adopter clients and influencing career and competency models for Capgemini’s thousands of technology consultants. Previously he was a Senior Partner in the Strategy & Corporate Development Group at Ernst & Young LLP and the Director for Innovation and Strategy for E&Y in the Americas Region. He was responsible for developing and delivering a vision of the future of professional services and a strategy for implementing that vision. In addition, as a member of the partnership’s internal investment advisory board, he oversaw a portfolio of innovation projects designed to redefine how a professional services firm operates. He joined Ernst & Young in the UK in 1985 and moved to the US in 1991.
Parkinson has degrees in Mathematics and in Information Sciences from Exeter University, UK. He has been involved with the information technology (IT) business since 1969 and has worked in virtually all roles within IT from programmer to general manager of a software house. He has managed or directed Business Strategy, IS Strategy, Technology Architecture, Requirements Analysis and large-scale systems development projects in the UK, USA, Europe and the Middle East for some of the world’s leading technology companies. He has written or edited four books on information systems development and has contributed over 40 papers to conferences and journals. He writes a bi-monthly column -- Strong Signals – for CIO Insight and is a member of their editorial advisory board. In 2003, he was named by Consulting Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Most Influential Consultants.” In 2004 he was named Co-Chair of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) Committee on RFID and the Chair of the ITAA Task Group on Public Policy Formulation for RFID.
Based in Chicago, Parkinson is available for comment on his specific areas of expertise including innovation, eCommerce; knowledge management; emerging technologies including RFID and agent-based technologies; application re-platforming; business intelligence, enterprise application integration (EAI) and 2005 technology trends to watch.
Andy Mulholland
Global Chief Technology Officer, Capgemini
Andy Mulholland joined Capgemini in 1996 with thirteen years of experience in senior IT roles. As an early pioneer in network technology with a focus on IT as opposed to computing, led Andy to recognized International status on Internet based technology. His two major white papers written in the last five years proposed Technology Architectural models that were subsequently adopted throughout the Technology industry.
Mulholland’s role of Global Chief Technology Officer includes advising the Capgemini Group management board on all aspects of technology-driven market changes. Mulholland serves on the technology advisory boards of several organizations and enterprises, including Cal IT, the Californian State Technology Board, and the Open Mobile Alliance an industry board charged with setting global standards for all aspects of the Mobility market.
He is particularly knowledgeable on the alignment of IT technology to serve business aims with emphasis on improving the communication and use of information in business processes. He has worked in all major industry sectors on strategic initiatives to deliver business advantage from Technology and coined the name ‘Techno Business’.
An experienced senior Executive with strong skills in strategic, tactical, and management aspects of technology, and services provision, he has been the founder, or co-founder, of four technology companies that have either been acquired by leading multinational technology companies, or in one case gone public on the small capital NASDAQ market.
Mulholland has a degree from Essex University. He is a regular guest speaker at IT events in the USA and Europe, with frequent television appearances and quotes in the Press.
